Robinson Donovan Helps Soldier On Break New Ground
November 06, 2009 | Robinson Donovan

Managing Partner Jeffrey McCormick and Robinson Donovan helped Soldier On break new ground for the Gordon H. Mansfield Veterans Community in Pittsfield MA, on October 29th.

The Gordon H. Mansfield Veterans Community, Pittsfield is a limited equity housing project that represents a new vision of what’s possible for formerly homeless veterans. Conceived and brought to reality under Jack Downing’s leadership, Veterans Village is a first-of-its-kind project in the United States. It will give veterans who were on the streets the chance to own their homes surrounded by the services they need to help them keep their lives together

Jeffrey McCormick represented Robinson Donovan during the ground breaking ceremony had these words to say.

I’m pleased to be here this afternoon to represent the partners and staff of Robinson Donovan.

We’re here today to witness the birth of a new model for housing formerly homeless veterans. Jack Downing and Soldier On have shown incredible leadership in creating the concept of limited equity housing for formerly homeless veterans and in making that concept a reality.

Robinson Donovan’s partnership with Soldier On was created with the same spirit of innovation. Over the past two years, our firm and Soldier On have forged a partnership that we at Robinson Donovan are very proud to be part of.

We got involved with Soldier On because our partners wanted to be part of something. Writing checks is easy. We wanted to be part of making change. That’s why we’ve contributed pro-bono legal services, support for Soldier On’s marketing and outreach efforts, and, most important, our personal time and efforts. Our partners and staff have been involved with Soldier On and the veterans it serves, not only as lawyers but as people, pitching in to create gardens for the women veterans in Leeds, taking the veterans shopping for the clothing they’re wearing here today and to the awards dinner tonight.

We believe that, today, it’s not just what you sell, it’s what you stand for. At Robinson Donovan, we stand for making real change in the lives of homeless veterans. We’re glad to stand alongside Jack Downing and Soldier On.
