KIDD HONORED AT 2002 PIONEER VALLEY HEART BALL
Attorney Ronald C. Kidd was honored at the 2002 Pioneer Valley Heart Ball for his continuous support to the American Heart Association in the fight against heart disease and stroke.
Ronald C. Kidd received the 2002 Heart of Gold Award, which is given each year to a member of the corporate community who, through their giving and support, has enhanced the quality of life for many and, who, through their generosity, has played a significant role in advancing the mission of the American Heart Association in the Pioneer Valley.
Kidd, who was born in Springfield, Mass., obtained his law degree in 1970 and has practiced as a trial lawyer at Robinson Donovan, P.C. since graduation. During this time, he has developed a special interest in medical issues, centering many of his trials around medical-legal issues. Kidd was the lead counsel on a case involving an unnecessary death of a young Wellesley portfolio manager whose death was the result of the failure to equip commercial aircraft with automated external defibrillators. For his role in this case, he was named one of 10 Massachusetts Lawyers of the Year 2000. Since this case, Kidd has volunteered his time and expertise at many forums hosted by the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross, lecturing on the legal implications of Public Access Defibrillation.
The event, which was chaired by James B. Kirchhoffer, M.D., was held on March 1 at Chez Josef in Agawam, Mass. Its theme "Una Bella Serata" translates to "A Beautiful Evening."
The 2002 Heart Ball gala was an elegant format event, featuring dancing to the sounds of the band Those Guys Over There. Along with a gourmet dinner and an evening of dancing, this year's Heart Ball also featured cocktails, silent auction, live auction and a raffle. This year's diamond raffle, which was donated by Hannoush Jewelers, allows the winner to choose their prize from the five diamond masterpieces brought to the event.
Tickets and proceeds funded research and educational programs of the American Heart Association, benefiting Americans locally and nationally.
