Carla W. Newton
DOMESTIC RELATIONS LAW, FAMILY LAW MEDIATION, CORPORATE AND BUSINESS LAW, COMMERCIAL FINANCE LAW, AND REAL ESTATE LAW
Carla W. Newton represents parties involved in all aspects of marital and premarital matters. Carla is a trained and practicing Collaborative attorney and a member of the Massachusetts Collaborative Law Council. She regularly represents clients in the preparation of premarital agreements, and in the resolution of marital and custodial disputes, including divorce, modifications and contempts, whether through the collaborative law process, mediation or litigation. Carla also represents families involved in adoption.
In the area of business law, Carla represents small and mid-sized businesses on general corporate matters as well as commercial lenders and borrowers in asset-based and real estate loan transactions.
Carla was born in Springfield in 1950. She resides in South Hadley, Massachusetts. Carla graduated with a B.S. from Lesley College in 1972. She was awarded a J.D. from Suffolk University in 1980 and earned an L.L.M. in banking from Boston University Law School in 1990. She was admitted to practice in Massachusetts in 1980, U.S. District Court, District of Massachusetts in 1985, and the U.S. Supreme Court in 1991.
Carla has been a lecturer and panelist for the National Council of Savings Institutions, the National Business Institute, Pioneer Valley Consumer Credit Counseling Services and Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc.
Carla has completed the practioner-level membership requirements in the national Association for Conflict Resolution and the Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation (a section of the New England Chapter of the Society of Professionals in Dispute Resolution). She is actively involved in mediation with families in the areas of divorce, custody, visitation and support.
